Clinical Day
Clinical Challenges for Translational TERM
Wednesday, 21 May 2025, 11:00 – 17:45 h
The TERMIS EU Congress features unique Translational Sessions, bringing together clinical department directors and their teams from Freiburg in tandem with Fellows of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (FTERMs), distinguished TERM leaders awarded honorary status for their outstanding contributions and role in shaping the field of TERM and TERMIS. We present real-world clinical cases, highlighting the challenges and limitations of current reconstructive therapies. Later on the current state of TERM, case- and specialty-relevant challenges, potential solutions, and feasible avenues of interactions between clinicians and scientists will be discussed.
With this session, we aim to underscore the challenges faced in the clinical settings while exploring possible solutions and future directions. It offers an exceptional opportunity to gain valuable interdisciplinary knowledge and contribute to the advancement of translational tissue engineering and regenerative medicine (“Translational TERM”).
Panel Discussion with clinical and FTERM teams
Challenges, causes and potential solutions at the intersection of clinical medicine and TERM
Wednesday, 21 May 2025, 17:00 – 17:45 h
As a concluding highlight of the clinical day, this panel discussion will bring together the clinical department directors and their teams and the leading research experts in TERM, the fellows of TERMIS (FTERM). This discussion will identify specialty-specific and overarching challenges and limitations that currently hinder Translational TERM and explore potential avenues including actions to propel Translational TERM forward towards greater clinical relevance. An additional perspective will be to advise the younger and future generation of TERMIS scientists such as SYIS how they could realize aspects of Translational TERM in their projects and future goals.

Wednesday, 21 May 2025, 12:30 – 13:30 h & 17:45 – 18:45 h
With this session we provide an invaluable opportunity for researchers at all levels to engage directly with leading clinicians. During individual interviews of 9 minutes you will have the chance to seek advice, discuss your research interests, and gain insights into clinical practice from experienced clinical department directors and their teams. You can bring a colleague or two as well as your supervisor.
Three key objectives
- Personalized Advice: Researchers can seek tailored advice on their research projects and future directions.
- Insight into Clinical Practice: Gain a deeper understanding of the practical challenges and needs in clinical settings.
- Open Forum: Address specific queries and topics of interest.
